CC Lawhon, M.Ed.
My
education began as early as age three, when I taught myself to read and began to
study everything I could find, from local insect species to "friend psychology."
Frequent trips to the library and a small bookstore in Tulsa afforded me all the
most "out there" literature available. I began writing seriously at the
age of ten, and read Carl Sagan's "The Cosmos" when I was eleven. That is
when I knew there was more to it than a small school in a small city in a small
country on a tiny planet. I remember Seventeen Magazine and countless
books and adults telling us kids to "just be yourself." And every kid I
knew was thinking, "What in the WORLD does that mean?" My parents were
endlessly supportive sending me all over the world to study as well as to Space
Camp, Horse Camp, and many other workshops. My highschool supported me as
well, sending me to countless leadership workshops and French speaking camps.
I went on to attend Pepperdine on the Dean's Scholarship and received a BA in
English (with a minor in Broadcast Journalism and an emphasis in Art History).
Throughout high school and college I tutored, was a nanny, and worked at a top
notch daycare center for six years in Malibu. I spent time in London
studying Art History and in Madrid studying Spanish. After producing
television news for two years, I realized most of television currently was
producing nothing but negativity and decided I needed more background to spread
my message on how to "be yourself." So, I went on to get my Masters in
Education and teaching credential (with Cultural Learning Differences and
Special Education credentials as well) at Pepperdine Graduate School.
Through all this I learned the latest parenting techniques, how children respond
to adults, and mostly how to teach and learn.
She has worked with people from 5 to 65, facilitating their journeys within. She is a certified school teacher, employee empowerment facilitator, regression hypnosis therapist, Reiki Level 3 and crystal healing facilitator, producer, writer, published poet, and tarot card reader among many other things. CC has lived all over the world, and through this and her studies has learned how to enable others to discover their passion, their connection to this Universe, and ways to develop these into success in their careers and personal lives...but most of all she has discovered how to be happy.
Described by those who know her as a "human sparkler," she cares about everything. Nature and the spirituality of it, art as a natural expression of human nature, and the charisma and light behind all beings are her passions. She focuses on the connection between all living things, human, animal and even plants. If you mention her Standard Poodle Sirius, her Blue Heeler Coyote, or her African Gray Parrot Andrew, you'll have a friend for life.
Ms. Lawhon has studied extensively in writing, teaching, and learning She has done doctorate level studies on how the brain learns, in childhood, as well as in old age and through "dis-ease" like Alzheimers. She has taught in some of the most prestigious schools in the country and coached Boeing and NASA employees. She writes for a living, to express herself and to share what she has learned with the world. Though some of her poetry is dark, it is an attempt to bring attention to her frustration with humankind’s arrogance, apathy, and desperate ego–while attempting to forgive herself for her part in it. She has been writing of this and of the ecstasy of energy and the Universe since she was ten years old. Recently her poem "The Valley" was featured at Woman Made Gallery in Chicago for its poignancy regarding the plight of wildlife in a world of real estate development.
Her vision is to teach people to learn to live their True Selves, thus becoming strong, loving, and ecstatic to be alive. Having gone through years of depression herself, she understands pain, but has learned how to move forward from that downward spiral, and become her True Self every minute of the day. CC has also worked with many Diversity initiatives over the last few years and has come to understand why our differences are so vital to our flourishing as a human race. Her personal goal is to help women and young people find what makes them happy and give them tools to thrive and enjoy being themselves every moment of their lives. In addition to doing this through retreats, CC is developing a teaching and learning methodology for elementary schools across America.
CC's contributions to society are varied, but among the most important is her realization of the importance of honoring our planet's delicate ecosystem. The most logical and vital way to help this cause is to be a responsible individual. Recycle, reuse, renew, and take only pictures, leave only footprints. So, she has chosen to support the charity Honor The Earth. She learned of this through the tireless efforts of her favorite musical group The Indigo Girls. $10 from every Pathway here at WSWRonline goes to this worthy cause. Honor the Earth is dedicated to closing down polluting energy systems like coal burning plants and instituting clean green renewable energy systems such as wind and solar plants in their place (thus maintaining the communities where the factories support the economy. Please honor yourself and your planet however you can. If you'd like to help through Honor the Earth, click here.
